Depuy Hip Replacement Lawsuits
DePuy hip replacements are designed to replace worn or weakened parts of the body’s natural hip. Many implants are not fitting properly due to poor design by the manufacturer, and this is causing patients to feel pressure or experience pain. Patients who have had a hip replacement may have received a defective DePuy hip replacement device.
DePuy Orthopedics has issued a global recall of its defective ASR Hip Resurfacing System and ASR XL Acetabular Systems. Those who have had one of the defective hip replacement systems implanted have a high likelihood of requiring revisionary or second surgery due to pain, swelling and/or mobility issues. These additional surgeries cause excessive pain and inconvenience for the patient.
Unfortunately, in many cases when the device has been removed, it leaves behind dangerous fragments. Complications include dislocation of the device, metal sensitivity, chronic pain and/or osteolysis, which may cause other health complications and alter a patient’s quality of life. Even daily activities are often affected by these hip replacements. Patients should contact their doctor to ensure they were not implanted with the recalled device. Regardless of symptoms, DePuy recommends that patients seek medical attention and advice from a medical professional, even if you are not experiencing pain.
